Generally speaking, a heating mantle is referred to as a device which is used in laboratories to heat or temper certain media in glass vessels. Due to the various sizes of the glass vessels, the exact amounts of liquids which are necessary can be heated.

A heating mantle is used in laboratories for the exact preparation of samples and thus, it is very important that these devices have a high level of functionality and accuracy. A typical heating mantle works with a round-bottom flask which is inserted into a basket made of woven fabric. Inside that round-bottom flask, there is the liquid to be heated or tempered by means of the heating elements which are located in the heating mantle.

Temperatures of up to +400 °C (842 °F) are possible. The heat-up time is very short which enables laboratory professionals to start their work soon. Another advantage of using a heating mantle is that the heat is distributed very evenly, which means that the danger of hotspots on the flask is eliminated. Also, no condensed water will be created when using a heating mantle. In comparison to other tempering equipment like hot plates, Bunsen burners or water baths, a heating mantle are suitable for organic liquids which can sometimes inflame when using other equipment.

Our serological water baths are double walled convection heated units. Outer of our serological water baths is constructed out thick PCRC steel sheet duly pre-treated with primers for rust proofing and painted with air drying paint/stove enamel/powder coating.  Heating:

BOD Sensor System is available in 6- or 10-place configuration, including a 6- or 10-position stirring station with BOD Sensors, dark glass bottles, alkali holders for absorbing the carbon dioxide and stirring bars. • BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) Determination is a simple and easy way for monitoring the microorganisms’ activity in water samples with extremely reliable results.
• In particular, microorganisms present or inoculated in a water sample containing biodegradable organic substance, consume oxygen for their metabolic activity and produce a corresponding volume of carbon dioxide.
• The carbon dioxide get absorbed by a strong alkali positioned in the neck of the bottle. The result of this process is a decrease in gas pressure. The BOD measure this change in gas pressure between the beginning to the end of the analysis and give a result expressed in mg/l.
