A Constant Temperature Water Bath is a laboratory device used to maintain water at a fixed, controlled temperature for a long period of time. It is commonly used in chemistry, biology, and medical laboratories for experiments that require stable heating.
DescriptionA constant temperature water bath consists of a container filled with water and a heating system controlled by a thermostat. The thermostat keeps the water at a pre-set temperature, usually between room temperature and about 100 °C. Samples or test tubes are placed in the heated water so they can be warmed evenly and gently.
Main PartsWater tank – Holds the water used for heating.
Heating element – Heats the water to the desired temperature.
Thermostat / temperature controller – Maintains a constant temperature.
Rack or holder – Holds test tubes or sample containers in place.
Outer casing – Protects the internal components.
The heating element warms the water. The thermostat continuously monitors the temperature and switches the heater on or off to keep the water at the set temperature, ensuring stable conditions for experiments.
